Seasonal crafts
My granddaughter Kayleen called this week with a request. She was trying to crochet a hat with leaves for her kitty, and was running out of time - could I possibly make it? A number of kids at college have service animals, and she's entering Zella in a costume contest ... yes, of course I could!
KK sent me the patterns (hat and leaves), explained her ideas, and brought over the yarn and a couple of hooks.
My kitty Percy wasn't very cooperative, so I brought out Galina - ᎦᎵᎾ - to try it for size. (And - of course - she wanted one of her own).
So I made her one with dragon-red flames, and a second leafy hat for one of the other kitties - Charizard amigurumi is modeling the second. (Do you think his hat and ties would be better in the green?)
KK was delighted! And offered to leave the yarn, 'I know where to find it if I need it again!' ...
That green yarn and modification of the leaf pattern seemed perfect for locks to match the felted ones I got at the Farmers market years ago. I'll wear them under my witchy hat tomorrow, when we do the Hexendance on 3rd street!
...and, inspired by Jasmine's post on Halloween crafts and decor, I made am making a little bat!! I got out my bag of drier lint, which is perfect for stuffing amigurumi and other small creatures. Years ago, my kids challenged me, saying, 'we bet you could even use drier lint!' (for something crafty) ... well ...
I'll finish Mavis today, and perhaps hang her from the doorknob? (Outside - Percy is happy to play with projects!)
Are you decorating for Halloween?
What adorable little hats and leaves, they seem to finish off the little creatures! I love you little bat, I can see her handing on your door knob! Happy Halloween and happy crocheting!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Martha!
DeleteThe extra hat went home with mybbonus granddaughter, for me kitty Luna!
And Mavis bat turned out so cute - she may need to come to our Hexendance as my 'familiar' 🦇
Cute hats! I can crochet only granny squares. Maybe kitty hats could be a new adventure.
ReplyDeleteAw, they would be an easy next project, Lily! Glad you stopped by!
DeleteNadya, these creations are adorable! The leafy hats and fiery twist for Galina are so cute, and Mavis the bat is perfect for Halloween. Thanks for sharing these sweet projects—happy Halloween and crafting! 🧶🎃🦇
