Hunter Moon

Over the last several years, I've enjoyed many crafting circles with friends from around the world - via zoom! I offer  bimonthly circles, choosing themes with my co-facilitators. These were in person before lockdown - there's way less schlocking of supplies with virtual circles!

My friend Kendall hosts full and new moon circles monthly, and we usually work in crafty journals, often making a round moon card.

I love crafting round cards, and this process of letting the theme inspire both my collage and a card.  Here's a journal spread from several years ago, which accompanied a painting journey.

Our October full moon is in fiery Aries, called the Hunter Moon by many. There were 8 in today's circle - and it's always fun to witness the variety of images and colors that emerge!

Kendall drew several oracle cards - from a deck which includes recipes! Temperance bespoke balance - and the recipe was for a vinegarette! She also spoke of turkeys, allied with this season, (ᎬᎾ / gv-na in Cherokee), and of their invitation to share gratitude and abundance.

My mama loved Almond Roca, so the card i made today reminds me of her (and of a Hospice patient who enjoyed this ferra roca version) The card slips into a little pocket on the Hunter Moon page.
My son and his family hunt most autumns, using their horses.

Like many in our community, I've made a number of altered journals using inexpensive composition books as the base.  In 2021 I dedicated one to these Lunar cycle circles.

    1. It's been great, as folks can attend from near and far! Several are in Oregon like me, my co-host lives in California, and we've had gals join in from east coast US and Canada, from Australia, Ireland, England, and even India (2 or 3 AM for her!)

  4. I've done a few crafting get-togethers online, but mostly I do them in person. You're righ, it is a lot of work to pack up everything and take it. Gorgeous projects!

    1. It's wonderful to gather in person when we can - I led monthly circles in circles for the first 5 years at gallery studio spaces - it is a great! But so much schlepping!
