Reiki Precept Cards

Image
It's a wrap! We had a lovely time in our Reiki 1 class this weekend, with my granddaughter Emily and her mom joining the other students yesterday. (Emily is a college student, and they could only stay half the day.  We three will get together later, to complete the teachings) Robin, Seana and Nadya after Reiki class The class was so sweet, and the Time Angels assisted us each day! The space was great for our class, with a cozy seating area for talking story, hot tea, a session room that's perfect for practicing the treatments, and we created the cards in the conference room! Making small cards or prayer flags for inspiration, affirmation, setting intention is one of my favorite quick projects, and is a perfect way to connect with the Reiki Precepts or Principles!  Collage card on brown paper In many traditions, flags of paper or cloth are hung to send prayers, praise and blessings on the wind. Cards can be placed on a shelf, or tucked into a journal pocket. (A pretty en...

Nearly class time

In just 4 days, we meet for our Reiki I class - are you ready? (Though I've posted it on my women's creative group, this class is open to both women and men, and children over 12) This is always a precious time of anticipation and preparation, for both students and teacher. I'll be pulling together handouts and supplies, and getting my extra massage table from storage.  Reiki Class in progress Several students will be joining from our community, plus a few family members. I always look forward to seeing how the class unfolds, and the insights that sparkle through.  At times, students ask 'how to decide' where they fit on the sliding scale. Since I began teaching Reiki in the fall of 1991, I've wanted to make Reiki initiation available to anyone who felt called to do the work. I've also realized, like Hawayo Takata, that there needed to be an 'energy exchange' for students to value the teachings. In her stories about Reiki, Mrs Takata shared that ...

30th Art Harvest

Image
A fall treat in Yamhill County (named for the local indigenous tribe) is our Art Harvest Studio tour, and this year marked the 30th tour! Over 60 local Artists have opened their studios, or are displaying in a shared space for two weekends! Tour brochure I met my friend Audrey at Currents Back Door Studio (where I've led Red Thread circles and offered classes) to see the work of 3 artists. Then upstairs to the Rose of 3rd which is always a treat!  This year, folks could get a preview of work by each of the artists in the ballroom at 'The Rose' or at the Newberg Cultural Center throughout September. Three of artists display their pieces in the front room, and 3 in the ballroom of this lovely Mission style space.  Spiral necklace by Debra Franciosi I often choose a piece of jewelry or pottery- this year the copper and silver necklace called! (And goes beautifully with the earrings I got last year from another artist on the tour, Maggie Bowman) Audrey and I then walked fro...

In the Atelier

The threads of Healing and creativity run strong in our family line; massage, midwifery, growing and using herbs, color, crafts, music...  My mama Lois and I traded back and foot rubs through my childhood; my dad Byrle and I sang in the church choir. I took piano lessons from an excellent teacher, Marion Coe, accompanied our girls choir, and in college I was an education major, with a music minor.   I always identified as an artist, and as a healer, becoming a massage therapist in the early 80s.  I took up the harp a decade later, and in 2015, I enrolled in the 9 month Color of Woman coursework, and certified as an Intentional Creativity teacher and coach, painting and keeping an art journal, and began offering creative circles monthly, and several longer painting classes throughout the year. In 2020, a sister teacher and I began offering the circles via zoom, and have built a sweet international group.  Art Cart One of the things I love about our Intent...
