Fall tidy
It's been 3 years since I moved across town to my daughter's and (later) into my sweet Rose Cottage. It was awesome to have her help worth the sorting and downsizing for the move...
That was a marathon - which we often attempt on our own - but without aid, it's overwhelming!
I watched a little clip from an organizer of a marathon sorting project, and could relate to the stacks and piles and boxes ... during my move, my son-in law was the 'take away guy,' dealing with trash, recycling, things we were bringing over her, and storage.
I can struggle with executive function, so I make lists, and have a sweet little chore chart on the side of the fridge, for the daily rota.
As I prepare for the SoulCollage® Facilitator training, it's time to do a bit of a reset, and clear the decks for a new project! I can tend to let things pile up around me - and I have a whole lovely room for art, music and the 'library' - it doesn't need to be in my living room!

1) you've got that writing project - how much time do you need for it daily? That's a priotity! You'll need to work around that schedule
2) Habits/ routines:
Choose a small task to do every day (I make my bed - simple - top sheet and blankets/ comforter - when I get up)
And - keep going with other daily & regular tasks you already do - dishes and laundry? (Wash/ dry/ put away)
Add daily tasks as you master previous ones - do you have clear paths in every room? Pick up trash, put things away (where would i look for it? Do i already have one? Would i even remember i have it?) You can use room bins like she does, and go through a you have time/ energy)
Sweep or vacuum paths daily, and
keep to the basics daily, add to those as you have time
3) Have a donatable give away bin in each area, and add to it as you notice something you don't really need (you can store them behind the scenes - have a goal of where and when you'll drop them off!)
3) How's your writing area?
I set a timer (20-30 minutes) and put on music or a cleaning video.
Start here with the steps @mestimac suggested - trash first - (be sure to empty it before trash day), and keep it handy!
Have a give away bin by the desk for stuff you purge, and note any storage / organization items needed (shop your home first! Is there a bookshelf you could repurpose? ...)
Desk surface - do you have all the tools you need? Are there extra electronics? Can you get to your printer? Clear and wipe down the desk top, and only put back what you really need.
Sweep under the desk
Be sure your chair feels supportive
Is The light bright enough? ....
Set some goals for what area to work on after that area feels good, and you're finished with the project.
Main living areas/ places you spend the most time are great to freshen up - and there's alot we can do in 20-30 minutes, if it's consistent!
